This is shaping up to be the FIGHT OF THE CENTURY.Maybe better than a Pacquaio vs Mayweather and may happen much sooner than the Pacman-Mayweather bout.
Let us look at the contenders:
Zagu ---- the erstwhile Reigning Champ of the Classy Cold drink
Icebreaker Scramble ---- the upstart Challenger aiming to dethrone you know who
I cannot give you a Tale of The Tape but I can make a feeble Tale of Tattletale (Jeeeez!!):
1. Both started from a lowly food: Sago beans for Zagu and halo-halo, poorboy's version for the Icebreaker.
2. Both are targetted at the teens, tweens and kids in general.
3. Both have attractive packaging.
4. Icebreaker is found in 40 outlets in SM and Robinsons and counting. Zagu has 100s in SM and Robinsons.
5. Both spawned their own copycats.
6. Franchise fees and total Wallet-busting (for the ordinary Juan) investment outlays should be about the same.
7. Talk-of-the-town factor is now on the Icebreaker but that was also the case of Zagu during its heydays.
8. Lastly, I like the taste of both of them.

I think we need to look at a couple of things to consider before we make a decision...

2. Who does Zagu and Icebreaker Scramble cater to ?
3. What are the price differences between these 2 brands.
4. How much are people willing to spend and when is this taken, for snacks, after office, etc?
Both may be a "fad" in many ways, however, what is the pulse of the market ?
Zagu ? Icebreaker ? look at the market you will be serving.
If Icebreaker is more affordable, it is "ice based", it has simple exciting flavors, you have a lot of young adults or school goers, and best if you have passersby, with the weather..... Icebreaker might be the better one.
