IFEX 2011: A Retake on Instant Meals. iMeals.

courtesy of iMeal
There was an interesting booth called iMeals.  The label says Heat and Serve.  Variants displayed were YangChow Rice, Chicken Teriyaki Rice and Adobo Rice.  Price is about P52.00 per pack.

I think they are targetting the Call center agents, office workers who are too tired to cook or when you do not feel like cooking.  Filipinos love rice but at P52.00 without ulam (viand), the end user will still have to figure out what to cook to go with the rice and that's when prices start going up.

KFC One-piece chicken without drinks but with rice is P78.00. With drinks, price is P87.00 but at least you do not have to cook the viand and wash the dishes.

Maybe iMeals is planning to offer Rice Toppings wherein you just add Hot water and you have a complete meal and nothing to wash at all.
