It can be lucrative to be a Lotto Collector because:
1. A Lotto bet typically costs P10 (US$20 cents) but the Lotto Collector will charge the bettor (his friends/neighbors/etc) P12 or 20%. (This is more than what a Lotto Outlet agent earns)
2. If he can bring good volume to a Lotto Outlet, the Lotto Outlet agent may even give him an Incentive fee over and above a certain peso amount of bets/day.
3. If one of his bettors wins, the Lotto Collector can expect a "Balato" or a reward for bringing luck to the bettor (Giving "balato" is a Filipino practice)
4. Many bettors do not want to line-up especially when the Lotto Jackpot has reached a huge level like P200 Million (US$4 Million) and that's where the Lotto Collector or Cobrador will prove his worth!5. Normally, a Lotto Outlet Agent will dedicate one of his Lotto terminals to service Lotto Collectors as taking bets from Lotto Collectors takes time to process because of the numerous small bets placed.
6. If it is known that a Lotto Collector had placed a bet of a neighbor who won the Jackpot, many more will want to give his bet thru that Lotto Collector as HE IS DEEMED GOOD LUCK. (Again, another Filipino practice)
