There are more than 20 kinds of PCSO Scratch & KasCash Cards to play.

  For those not familiar with it, a PCSO Lotto Outlet does not just sell Lotto tickets--- they also sell scratch cards.

Scratch cards are colorful cards that a lotto customer has to scratch to reveal the winning prize.  It is very relaxing to play and cost in general P20 for most games.

Each card has a different game scheme, to wit:

1.  Some cards will win if you can find 3 of the same amount, you win the amount.  Some cards like the go Banana has a multiplier (X2, X3) which can right away double or triple your winnings.

2.  Others like Red Hot 7 require that you find 3 7s in a row (vertical, horizontal or diagonal like Tic Tac Toe) and you win the amount where the 7s are aligned to.

3.  Others like Sunny Money (look for a Sun) while Cash Carnival means you look for a ferris wheel.

  4. Right now and still going strong is Go Banana.  Normally a Game card will be played for a fixed period of time (maybe 2 months or so and it will stop) but demand for Go Banana is so strong that I think it is already in its 6th Series of Launching!!!

Lotto customers enjoy playing the scratch cards to kill time while waiting say for the wife to finish grocering or waiting for somebody.  For the oldies, it is a means to fill in their time now that they mostly leave without their family and are just with the maid.

SCRAMBLed NEWS: Do You Know You Can Make 60 6oz-Cup of Scramble from One Kilo of Your Own Scramble Premix????

Yup, this is what a supplier of Scramble Premix (Strawberry Classic) told me while I was buying a cup of Scramble from a known-brand Scramble outlet in a medium-size mall in Metro Manila. 

Some more SCRAMBLed TRIVIA:

1.  If you can get 60 6oz-cups of Scramble from a kilo of Scramble Premix and the Premix costs only P100/kg, you could Gross P320 from every kilo as a 6oz-cup of Scramble sells for P7!!!!!

2.  The same Scramble premix supplier was trying to convince me to set-up my own scramble and earn a lot more, instead of getting a franchise.  Hmmmmmmmmmmmm What do you think, readers?

3.  In that same mall, there used to be only one Scramble but according to the counterperson of the first outlet, his sales has gone down by about 50% since opening last year BECAUSE THE MALL ALLOWED ANOTHER SCRAMBLE OUTLET TO SET-UP JUST  30 STEPS AWAY.  His daily sales is now only P2,000/day.

4.   The other Scramble outlet (of a known-brand) is run by the owner himself (without any crew to save on costs) and his sales is only P1,500/day.  The owner was telling me he is planning to set-up another outlet in his house across a school but this time, he will use his own Concept (i.e. own name and use premixes etc from third parties).

5.  At the Ever Gotesco Grand Central Supermarket area, there are 4 Scramble outlets, 2 siomai outlets (but there must be about 10 in the whole GRand Central Mall), 2 sisig (sisig in the city pulled out), 2 pearl shakes (Black Pearl and Zagu) etc.

     One of the counterpersons told me that Sales is getting cannibalized and let the strongest survive!!! Woe is the small business owner.

6.  Strangely, the 2 scramble outlets prepared their Scrambles in 2 ways:  One used a Premix while the other mixes-up the different ingredients themselves.  The former claims better shelf life and less wastage while the latter who mixes the individual ingredients claims to have a better product.

7.  Likewise, both outlets crushed ice differently. One uses the P15,000-Automatic crusher which is good for heavy orders while the other uses the Industrial Manual crusher because it gives a more fine mixture.  Which is which?

8.  Some Scramble outlets use Buttermilk ((better tasting) but others use Skim Milk (better texture visually). Which one?

9.  Lastly, Scramble is the Star of the Foodcart business at the moment (Twisted potatoes coming in) but with malls not controlling the number of Scramble outlets in a given selling area, will this be bad for future and existing scramble owners?????  PRETTY SCARY, DON'T YOU THINK?

Scramble Update: JC Fran Offers Its Own Called The Scramble Kid

As if it were not yet enough to have Icebreaker Scamble, Buzbox Scramble. Scramble King, Scramboi, Pinoy Ice Scramble and a horde of other Scramble franchises, JC Fran is introducing its Scramble Kid at P148,000 franchise package. 

Their first outlet is located in Glorietta Makati.

JC Fran offers many kings of Franchises from the Red Ninja, Hongkong Fried, Siomai King, Sergeant Sisig and a number of other Foodcart fads.

2010 SME & Franchise Expo: Not Twistix but Twist N Fry!!!

    If I was to gauge the most popular food cart concept based solely on the queries by my readers to reach my Blog, it would be Twistix!!!!!  Yup, not scramble anymore. . .  its Twistix today, yesterday and maybe, tomorrow.

  During the SME & Franchise Expo, Twistix did not exhibit but there were 2 other outfits that exhibited Twistix-type of products, one of which I feature in this post:  Twist N Fry by Wynski Enterprises.

Wynski is a regular exhibitor in almost all Food cart exhibits.  They are actually a food cart fabricator but they do now offer franchises in Scramble, Twistix-type fries and many more.

For their Twistix-Fighter, they offer Twist N Fry and their franchise package is P80,000 which includes the booth, cutter, fryer, pan, display, uniforms and initial inventory.

  I went to Robinson's Galeria Foodcourt to meet a client who availed of my Lotto Consultation Service on How to Setup and Operate Your Own Lotto Outlet.  Since I was early, I decided to check-out the Manila Scramble that my friend told me about.

It was still early in the day but I finally saw the Manila Scramble located not in the Foodcourt but in the middle hallway from the former fountain area leading to the escalators.  Despite not being in the main foodcourt area, it already had a line. And according to my friend, this is the same every day.

They also have an outlet in Robinsons Ermita among other places.  Pricing at P10-P17 is like Icebreaker Scramble.

How a Free Sulit Ad Helped Boost My Lotto Consultation Service

I have only one source of livelihood and that is my PCSO Lotto Outlet which I started about more than 2 years ago.  While it pays for the bills and gets me through my day, I was thinking of a way to capitalize on the skills and experiences (sometimes painful) in running a Lotto outlet.

I then hit on the idea of offering a One-on-One Consultation on How to Setup and Operate Your Own Lotto Outlet and to encourage prospects, I decided to offer  it at a low P2,000 per head for an almost 2-hour session.

My Target Market are OFWs and employees wanting to start an affordable Small Business of their own and I felt, a PCSO Lotto Outlet was exactly what they need.  My biggest challenge was how to market my Lotto Consultation service.


I then remembered my friends mentioning about this outfit offering free ads on the internet and that it has proven profitable for them.   To advertise through the traditional print and media ads were out of the question as I was on a tight budget.  There was only only one solution :I had to get a Sulit ad.

When I posted my ad, nothing much happened but I was excited as I noticed that almost immediately my ad started showing Views.  Soon after, I started getting Private Message or text messages on my mobile inquiring about my Lotto Consultation service.  Since then, I never looked back.  I now have a good sideline business that has allowed me to engage in my passion for Digital Photography as well as help pay my daily expenses.

SCRAMBLE NEWS: Cold Scramble with Hot Dog? . . . Check Out Pinoy Scramble.

  As I disembarked the crowded MRT Train at the Taft Station, I noticed the Pinoy Scramble Foodcart.  While all the Scramble franchises I have seen todate  sold only Scramble, this Pinoy Scramble sold also Hotdog sandwich, burgers and what have you.

  I am not sure if that is a good idea to have Scramble with many other food stuffs.  Its more of a snack kart selling everything else. Or, stated another way, they may have everything a stomach needs.  Taste and compare with other Scramble brands.  There is a difference.

2010 AFFI FILIPINO FRANCHISE SHOW: Sisig Without the Beer

Sisig used to be associated with pulutan (beer appetizer) and beer.  Then, Gerry's and Dencio's  Filipino Restaurants started offering Sisig not only made in the original chopped Pig face etc  but also Pork-free as in with Chicken, Tuna or Bangus (Milkfish) varieties but these were quite pricey yet as these were served in fine dining restaurants.

Now comes the food cart medium and Sisig is available as Topping for steaming Rice.  Most popular is Sisig Hooray (Robinson's Galeria, SM Makati, Ever Commonwealth) but last I checked, they do not franchise.

  During the AFFI Filipino Franchise Show, I saw Sisig in the City on display. 

I saw Sisig in the City at Waltermart North EDSA and they serve pork, chicken and bangus with prices ranging from P55 to P65 per order.  If is a bit pricey when you think you can get a One-piece chicken with rice and soup from Mang Inasal for only P49.  But then again, there are customers who may just like Sisig for a change.
